The big barn in Cataloochee across from the old Caldwell house is a great place to see the valley fields from a higher vantage point. It can also provide decent shelter from the rain. Just be careful where you step as their are openings to the stalls below in several places.

    Palmer Chapel in Cataloochee

Built in 1898, Palmer Chapel has fared very well for it's age. It is a must top on any trip to Cataloochee. To me is seems to be sitting backwards. But that is only because it doesn't face the current road. I am not sure what inspired them to build it this way, but it is in a beautiful setting none the less. It faces Cataloochee Creek. Revivals have been held here each year in the fall and still happen today.
